Responsible for preparing patients for treatment, testing, and examination by a Provider; assists licensed nurse with patient flow, connecting patients with ancillary services, maintains work area and exam rooms, as well as stocks supplies.

Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist: $19.35-$22.74 p/h DOE with ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs venipuncture, arterial puncture, capillary puncture, and other fluid collection on patients. Performs waive test sample collection, processing and resulting. Ensures specimens are appropriately labeled and identified for lab processing.
  2. Responsible for instrumentation, supplies, ordering, and other quality assignments.
  3. Promotes a positive work culture and upholds clinic policies and procedures, including the WE CARE Standards of Behavior.
  4. Must uphold confidentiality at all times in regards to CBHA activities, reports, financials, patient health information and other proprietary information specific to CBHA.
  5. When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Responsible for preparing the day’s flow of patients through the clinic.
  6. When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Responsible for patient flow during the work day, ensuring that Provider and patient needs are met
  7. When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Communicates with patients, as directed by Provider and Licensed Nurse.
  8. When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Responsible for managing provider computer desktop flow on a daily basis.
  9. When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified: Administers and demonstrates knowledge of medications administered up to scope of licensure under WAC 246-826-100 – “Demonstrates knowledge of medications prior to administration, including but not limited to: correct dosage, route, anatomic site, expected reaction, possible adverse reactions, and appropriate interventions.”
  10. When employee holds a Medical Assistant Certified and is assigned: Responsible for assisting with patient education.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Professional and Technical Knowledge:

  1. Possesses a basic level of written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, and mathematical skills typically acquired through completion of a high school program.
  2. Possesses familiarity with the processes and operations performed during the work day, facilitating patient flow, while accurately maintaining appropriate health information in the patient’s electronic medical record.
  3. Ability to demonstrate basic medical terminology/anatomy.

 

License and Certification:

  1. Ability to possess a current Medical Assistant Phlebotomy license with the State of Washington. May have a Medical Assistant Certified license instead or in addition.
  2. Ability to possess a current BLS for Healthcare Providers card.

Communications Skills:

  1. Possesses the ability to successfully form, foster, and improve relationships with members of a culture different from one's own.
  2. Possesses ability to present oneself professionally.
  3. Possesses ability to meet with a variety of people, both formally and informally, and to communicate well with professionals and patients.
  4. Bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred.
